Let's Taco 'Bout Braces

¡𝙁𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙯 𝘾𝙞𝙣𝙘𝙤 𝘿𝙚 𝙈𝙖𝙮𝙤!

Let's {𝓽𝓪𝓬𝓸 𝓫𝓸𝓾𝓽} braces, and safe ways to celebrate today!

We love celebrating Cinco de Mayo at the office! The fun, festivities, and great food puts a #pulitzersmile on our face! First, let's talk about a few things you can do to make this a great, braces-safe day!

1. Instead of chips and dip, try softshell tacos and spread your favorite appetizer, and enjoy!

2. Try enchiladas, Tamales, Quesadillas, or Burritos for your main course to avoid hard shell foods.

3. Celebrate with a Tres Leches Cake, Mexican Hot Chocolate, or Flan for dessert! Just remember to brush your teeth after you eat these sweets!

4. Make and decorate sombrero cookies! Make your sombrero's unique with different colored icing!

5. DIY paper bag piñata at home: Take a brown paper bag, and decorate it with leftover tissue paper. Fill your bag with your favorite braces-safe goodies such as: peppermint patties, Kit- Kats, Hershey's kisses, or Reese's cups! Tie it up with a string, and have fun knocking it down!

6. Have an at-home Cinco de Mayo themed scavenger hunt! Use fun decorations, prizes, or even use Cinco de Mayo trivia to find the items!

7. Play a round of soccer! If you know our doctors, than you know how much they love soccer! Make it more interactive by having the losing team sing their best Mariachi song! (tag us on TikTok!)

8. Have a maraca making contest! Reuse your old plastic Easter eggs, get moms Rubbermaid containers, grab some dry rice, masking tape, and anything you'd like to decorate with, and create an easy DIY project at home!

9. DIY party hats: take a paper plate, paper cup, and your favorite items to decorate with! Glue or tape your paper cup facedown on the paper plate. Then decorate, and punch one hole on each side of the plate to run a string through to make your very own sombrero!

10. If you have picky eaters, make Mexican pizza in lieu of burritos or enchiladas! Follow the recipe in the link below and let us know what you think! https://www.parents.com/recipe/mexican-pizza/

Of course, our office is eating out for lunch today to celebrate! So here are a few great and local restaurants to go to today!

  • Santa Fe Mexican Grill in Kingsport, TN

  • La Carretta Mexican Restaurant in Kingsport, TN

  • El Chantito Family Mexican Restaurant in Kingsport, TN

  • Los Jalapeños in Blountville, TN

  • White Duck Taco Shop in Johnson City, TN

There are so many more, but we love to support local and encourage you to as well! We hope you have a braces-safe, and wonderful Cinco de Mayo! Tag us in your festivities and show off your #pulitzersmile!
